"Book of Returns" is a collection of modules. Modules are usually 40 Seconds short and sometimes multiples of that. Modules can be: solo-pieces, solo-electronics, a cassette player, a single note or a scale, a performative situation, experiments with microphones, field recordings, picture projection, and, more exceptional, also ensemble situations - although a typical presentation definitely needs something like an ensemble: a mixture of instrumentalists, electronic performers and other.
The modules are played/connected without pause. With free choice of modules, order and number. But always the connection between modules, the edge, is the crucial part: the perfect cut.

... ein Ganzes, das vervollständigt werden müsste. Das Denken oder die Sinnlichkeit können sich nur unter einer Bedingung ausdrücken, derjenigen, eine Art Rundumschlag zu machen ... es geht darum, die Totalität des Sinnlichen und des Intelligiblen, an die man rühren konnte, einzusammeln. Was mich betrifft, so verspüre ich das Bedürfnis, mit einem ziemlich vollständigen Werk fragmentarischen Charakters zu erscheinen, das alles enthielte, was ich bis dahin für den Ausdruck meines Denkens gehalten habe. Es scheint mir notwendig, ein solches Werk herauszubringen, damit klar wird, dass man sich nicht nur in Gegenwart einer Poesie befindet, die sich einer Philosophie ankristallisiert, sondern trotz allem in Gegenwart einer vollständigen Philosophie, obwohl sie eine Anti-Philosophie sein will.
